Marketing Client Beverages to Hotels, Banquets and Catering Services

While hotels may be experiencing declines in occupancy rates because of a slowdown in business travel, many establishments are trying to increase revenues with other services. In particular, hotel operators can increase sales by selling more alcohol-based beverages. A few statistics shared by Technomic make the point:

  • Increase in alcohol-based beverages at restaurants, bars, lounges and banquet halls in the past five years — 8%
  • Hotels as a component of away-from-home drinking locations — 4%

The Technomic study also emphasizes the following trends associated with hotel celebrations. Consumers typically like the following:

  • Upscale, specialty drinks
  • Regional wines

Suggest a marketing campaign to your local winery and distillery clients that target hotel operators. Consumer interest in a local getaway with libations supplied by local vendors could lift revenues for all parties involved.
