Meal Delivery Bringing in New Restaurant Revenue

When revenue drops, it’s good business strategy to consider alternate sources of cash flow and customers. Deborah Cohen, who covers small business for Reuters, recently checked out how restaurants are trying to stem the flow of red ink. One strategy that many full-service operators are now considering is delivery.1195914_express

Cohen references a report that shows the following percentages of restaurants, by sector, that are considering starting delivery services :

  • Family and fast casual operators 40%
  • Fine dining 33%

As more consumers investigate ordering in dinner, they’ll want to know what they’re getting. Your marketing program should address the following concerns:

  • Food arrives fresh and hot
  • Consumers are saving time and money
  • Consumers can order what they want, when they want it

You might not be able to convince consumers to come through the door of your restaurant but marketing something new could increase revenue.
