Challenge: Creating a home remodeler SEM campaign with a client new to online advertising
Tristan Gomes, an advertising solutions representative for the Better Business Bureau, had only been on the job as a sales rep for three months when he turned to AdMall’s research to help craft a home remodeler SEM campaign.
“I recently joined the Better Business Bureau with little sales experience, but strived to be the best,” said Gomes. “It was tough at first as I had never called business owners with the goal to persuade them to buy our advertising packages. As a result of this, I wanted to find a way to have a more consultive relationship with the business owners and be someone they believe they can trust.”
“The business owner I worked with is a home remodeler in the Kansas City area. It is a single man business, and the owner specializes in a few different areas such as bathroom and kitchen remodeling.”
“The owner…stated his best form of marketing was word of mouth. The business was getting almost no traffic to their website, and if anyone looked up remodeler in the KC area, they would not show up until the third or fourth page.”
Solution: Turn to AdMall’s AudienceSCAN and Digital Audit tools
To convince the business owner that a home remodeler SEM campaign would be the right way to go, Gomes turned to AdMall.
“AdMall was a great tool as I was able to see how consumers react to different kinds of ads regarding home remodeling,” said Gomes. “I noticed that internet banner ads had the highest percentage of consumers responding in the home remodeling industry and worked to find a good package that could utilize that.”
“I was able to sell them a Google SEM package that displays their ads while also keeping track of their clicks and possible leads on their website.”
Result: An annual contract and more web traffic flowing to the advertiser
Gomes had only been using AdMall for two months, and within that time, was able to close the home remodeler SEM campaign for a total of $20,000.
“The owner reached out to let me know that they were able to get some new leads and more people reaching out after seeing their advertising,” said Gomes. “I have used AdMall for a little over 2 months and it has been incredible. My favorite part is the presentation feature that makes it so easy to explain to business owners all the demographics and all they need to know.”
For new sales reps, or those new to AdMall, Gomes had some advice using the product.
“It only took me about a week to get comfortable with AdMall and all the features. I watched a few of the how-to videos on what I would need the most and what to specialize in,” said Gomes. “I would say that having the most [detailed] knowledge regarding your client and their target market, demographics, and advertising opportunities make it so much easier to get a sale. Sales involves being trustworthy and when you show up to a meeting with a client, and you have done all your homework, it sets you up for success. AdMall creates confidence in the sales world.”
