Opportunities with Online Retailers

As e‑commerce continues to grow, vendors will need to update their operations to remain competitive. This scenario increases opportunity for a number of B‑to‑B firms. A recent Internet Retailer survey sheds light on where e‑commerce retailers will be spending in the second half of 2008:

  • Replacing the e‑commerce platform 28%
  • Purchasing miscellaneous applications 20.5%
  • Improving the content management system 11.9%

The results of the survey strongly suggest slowing spending by e‑commerce firms on technology, however, a peek at their priorities allows vendors to fine-​tune their pitches. Here are the top priorities:

  • Customer reviews/​ratings 35.5%
  • Improved inventory availability information 34.2%
  • Blogs/​forums 32.9%
