Patient Flow Solutions are on the Horizon

In my January 8th post, I discussed the expected renewed focus on e‑health records as the venture community invests in this field. Businesses specializing in another segment of the industry, patient flow solutions, also see a bright future. For example, Atlanta, GA-based Eclipsys Corporation recently acquired Premise Corporation, well-known provider of software systems designed to help health care systems proactively manage beds, patient turnover, and transport. Commenting on the benefits of the business deal, Eclipsys CEO noted that nearly 2/3’s of hospitals lack an effective information system for bed management. Yet improved patient flow survey data point to additional patients being served and achievement of cost savings.

With all eyes focused on healthcare costs in the next few years, look for more competitors to enter the information services sector of this marketplace. The additional competition should mean more business prospects for ad agencies.
