Sun and the Real Estate Market

Despite the ongoing gloom in the housing market, there are a few features that can improve the chances of a sale. A report by SunPower Corporation points to higher sales when a house comes equipped with a solar electric power system versus a standard heating and cooling system. Further, 9 out of 10 consumers who own houses with these systems would recommend a similar purchase to friends.
This small survey was taken from 2006–2008 and targeted homeowners in California and other Western states where SunPower Corporation's products are installed. The larger implication is that consumers are looking for green features when they’re shopping for new homes. Whether you’re working with home builders or solar power installers, emphasize cost-savings and environmental benefits in marketing messages to build sales.
