More Consumers are Buying Their Car Accessories Online

"Online dollar sales of automotive accessories — including appearance accessories, cargo management, exterior accessories, interior accessories, towing & hitch, and tire & wheel accessories — grew by 26% in the 12 months ending April 2019, according to The NPD Group's Checkout E‑commerce Tracking. Additionally, 34% of online dollar volume during the same time period resulted from sales within these six accessory categories."

Auto Aftermarket Parts Sellers to Promote Top-Selling Wipers, Washer Flue and Lighting

"The U.S. automotive aftermarket industry grew its retail sales by 2.5% in 2018, according to The NPD Group. In addition to favorable weather early in the year, this increase was fueled by the fundamentals of the industry being strong: More vehicles are on the road, the average age of vehicles is trending older, and the majority of consumers are unconcerned about higher gasoline prices."

A well-developed online strategy rises in importance as more millennials are hitting the road. According to global information company The NPD Group, 12 percent of U.S. consumers who have made an automotive purchase have done so online.
