About half of respondents from the highest-income households ($150k+) claim to be shopping at dollar stores the same amount this year compared to 2012, according to new research from Mintel. The majority of dollar store shoppers say that stores are conveniently located, and 74% think that dollar stores offer better prices than other retailers. Younger consumers, 18-34, are an important group to target for dollar and discount stores.
