Retailers Targeting Tax Service Clients Who Plan to Spend Refunds

"Valas­sis, a leader in acti­vat­ing con­sumers through intel­li­gent media deliv­ery, today released new research ana­lyz­ing con­sumer behav­ior relat­ed to tax sea­son. Stem­ming from a sur­vey of more than 1,000 U.S. respon­dents who expect to receive a tax refund in 2019, the find­ings note that more than half (53%) are antic­i­pat­ing receiv­ing the same, or more, mon­ey this year."

This year, more than 52 mil­lion — a mas­sive 46% of all house­holds — have plans to buy fur­ni­ture and bed­ding prod­ucts. Bed­ding was the most fre­quent­ly bought cat­e­go­ry in 2012, fol­lowed by sta­tion­ary sofas and reclin­ers, accord­ing to Fur­ni­ture Today's "2013 Con­sumer Buy­ing Trends Sur­vey." If con­sumers fol­low through with their buy­ing plans, these cat­e­gories will remain strong.

Con­sumers who post­poned home fur­nish­ings expen­di­tures dur­ing the reces­sion are ven­tur­ing back into the mar­ket. Some pieces of fur­ni­ture are prov­ing more pop­u­lar than oth­ers this year. And spe­cif­ic demo­graph­ic groups top the list for pur­chas­ing fur­ni­ture accord­ing to the new Con­sumer Buy­ing Trends pub­lished by Fur­ni­ture Today.
