More Americans plan to travel for Thanksgiving this year. A new survey from TripAdvisor reveals that 39% plan to travel for Thanksgiving, up seven percent from those that did in 2012 (32%). Of those traveling, 37% will flock to the skies, while 57% plan to drive to their Turkey Day destination.

Consumers Expected to Spend an Average of $762 Per Person on Holiday Travel

According to a new survey from RetailMeNot​.com, holiday travel spending amongst consumers in 2012 could be robust and average $762 per person. 50% of adults polled would spend $500 or more per person on travel-related costs during the holidays. Overall, adult consumers would spend an average of $762 per person on travel during the holidays.

Despite Sluggish Economy Americans Continue to Prioritize Travel

According to AAA Travel, the total number of 2012 Labor Day holiday travelers is expected to reach a new post-recession high. A survey of intended travelers found that 66% said their current financial situation would not negatively impact their Labor Day holiday weekend travel plans. Median spending is expected to be $749, a small increase over the $702 median spending of intended holiday travelers in 2011.
