"Plant-based and veggie burgers are increasingly finding their way on to quick service restaurants (QSRs) menu boards and customers are responding. There were 228 million servings of veggie burgers and veggie sandwiches ordered at QSRs in the year ending May, up 10% from a year ago, reports The NPD Group."
A new report from Sysco indicates that more U.S. consumers may be willing to reduce the level of meat-based protein in their diets in favor of plant-based proteins. At a recent Menu of Change conference, nutrition experts reported that consumers continue to eat significantly more protein than is recommended.
