Physical Security – Vumii of Burlington, MA has introduced a new generation night-vision camera that allows operators to capture details such as the faces of possible intruders. The device will be marketed to power plant and water system operators, among others.

Medical/Biotech – Israel-based Rosetta Genomics has launched a diagnostic test that detects genetic links to cancer by using microRNA. Diagnosis of a specific form of cancer leads to more targeted treatment. Rosetta Genomics is just one company in this market segment.

Consumer Electronics – The marriage of information, communication and technology continues to result in innovative products for the consumer market. Spot, Inc. has been launched as a  satellite-based messaging service for adventure seeking consumers (outside of mobile phone covered areas) who need to communicate or send a request for help.
