LOCAL MARKETING INSIGHTS

Industry experts thought they had their projections right, but the pandemic changed search marketing this year. Before we knew about COVID-19, analysts were certain that the search industry’s growth rate would begin to slow.

Print advertising is fairly effective on its own. Digital advertising has proven to be even better in most cases, especially as time goes on. However, advertisers rarely use digital and print together.

After issuing dire predictions about many sectors of the advertising economy, industry analysts say consumers are noticing OOH ads. Early in the COVID-19 pandemic, ad industry watchers predicted a difficult season for the out-of-home media industry.

The worst of ad buying declines is now behind digital marketers, according to a report by WARC. Industry forecasts have predicted a 13% year-over-year increase for digital advertising in the second half of 2020, and that includes TV ads.

Now more than ever, local SMBs believe in the power of digital marketing. Before the pandemic set our economy back, The Manifest 2020 Small Business Digital Marketing Survey found that local operators, 76%, strongly believed that digital marketing was helping them achieve their goals.

Will they, or won’t they? None of us knows how many consumers will return to in-store shopping once the social distancing mandates are lifted or whether digital video ads will drive revenue.

Print is dead. Well, not quite, but it is definitely in decline. According to a study by Pew Research Center, the circulation of U.S. daily newspapers has fallen to less than 30 million since newspaper’s peak in the 90s and early 80s. But that’s print circulation.
