Grab and Go Meals Build Supermarket Revenues

As consumers try to cut corners restaurants may notice a decline in business but supermarkets and convenience stores are capitalizing on the ‘grab and go' trend.  Industry monitor Technomic expects the prepared meals industry to grow at least 7% in the next year.

Benefits to consumers include:

  • Lower cost than eating out
  • Less waste than preparing a meal at home
  • No cooking

The rise in grab and go meals stands in sharp contrast to the decline in revenues for the meal assembly businesses which arrived on the scene several years ago. Some of these businesses have started to reposition themselves as spots where busy consumers can pick up healthy, prepared meals for their families.

Build a list of grab and go meal vendors in your market and pitch a new ad campaign. Marketing to office workers in the immediate area could help to boost sales.
