New Census Data Show Where Health Insurance Companies Should Focus Marketing Efforts

The most recent US Census Bureau report on consumers and health insurance indicates there is room for improvement which means opportunity for your clients. Here's the coverage profile for the general population:

  • 15.3% Not Covered
  • 59.3% Covered by Employee Plan
  • 8.9% Direct Purchase
  • 27.8% Government Plan

The key demographics for consumers not covered by health insurance include:

  • Between the ages of 18–24 28%
  • Employed full-​time 17%
  • Household income below $50,000 45.6%

The data also indicate that up to 20% of Blacks and 33% of Hispanics are not covered by any form of health insurance.

Work with your health insurance companies to target these specific populations either directly or through employers with informative marketing materials on low-​cost coverage that might be available to them.
