Digital marketing proved to be the savior of many brands during the pandemic. With social distancing still in place for the foreseeable future, digital ads will continue to hold a seat of power this year. But in order for your clients to make the most of their ads, they need to be clued into this year’s digital marketing trends.

According to Nidhi Dave, writing for Single Grain, here are some of the trends marketers should act on:

1. Programmatic

Dave says that 86.2% of digital display ads nationwide are currently programmatic. It means that your clients must ensure that they are ready to bid for ad placements when webpage publishers put their ad inventory up for auction. Using artificial intelligence can help with these efforts.

First of all, your clients can use, “AI to automate ad buying so you can target more specific audiences. Real-time bidding, for example, is a type of programmatic ad buying. This automation is much more efficient and fast, which means higher conversions and lower customer acquisition costs.” AI can help your clients stay on top of the programmatic side of ad buying, one  of this year’s trends in digital marketing.

2. Video

Not only is video marketing super effective and therefore important right now. Dave says it will continue for up to 10 more years. Why is this? 68% of consumers say that they prefer learning new products or services by watching short videos.

Another 52% of consumers also say that watching a video about a potential purchase will make them more confident in their buying decisions. Not only will videos sway the initial viewer, but they also have a high chance of being shared with others. Dave says that 70% of consumers share videos from brands they enjoy. Live videos are also part of the latest digital marketing trends.

3. Influencers

Consumers tend to trust other shoppers more than faceless companies. That’s where influencers come into play. 63% of consumers believe that influencers are more trustworthy than content made by the featured brand itself.

Because of this, “8% of people have bought a new product in the past six months because of an influencer’s recommendation,” says Dave. Influencers don’t have to be celebrities. Nowadays, brands can look for users/channels on Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube who have a lot of followers and promote the brand’s products through the influencer’s recommendations.

4. Influencers

Sometimes, words can only get you so far when conducting an online search. More consumers are now turning to visual searches to get more specific results. Visual searches, made possible when a marketer uploads an image as part of its content, and the search engine indexes this context as it crawls through the web, is another digital marketing trend your clients can tap into. Fashion, home goods, art, and food are the industries most benefiting from this trend.
