"As the COVID-19 pandemic has spread, expert knowledge and guidance on the viral illness has evolved time and again as we learn more about it," says Consumer Reports. "But one message has been clear throughout: Older adults, particularly those 65 and above, are at higher risk for severe disease." As such, they're in need of sanitation products.

Seniors are naturally more susceptible to illnesses caused by bacterial and viral infections, says Consumer Reports, and COVID-19 falls into that category. Luckily, there are ways older Americans can lower their risks of catching the virus with the help of sanitation products.

Along with staying home as often as possible and social distancing, they should have a steady supply of sanitation products, such as soap, hand sanitizer and disinfecting wipes and other products that are the keys to fighting off germs. Seniors should wash their hands after coming in contact with items from the outside, such as groceries (which should also be washed). They should also disinfect surfaces and items that are touched frequently, especially those that are primarily touched when outside of the home, such as keys.

It's no surprise that the Silent Generation doesn't spend as much time online as the younger generations, so that is how advertisers should approach them with their disinfecting promotions. Last year, according to AudienceSCAN, this generation took action after receiving direct mail ads/coupons and seeing ads in newspapers and magazines.
