Mintel’s Winter Holiday Shopping U.S. 2017 market report reveals that iGeneration winter holiday shoppers are the most likely (42 percent) to say they like to shop in stores on Black Friday, nearly double the amount of holiday shoppers overall (23 percent).

The retail category may see a significant increase in paid search advertising spending this holiday season, according to new research by AdGooroo. In a study of U.S. Google desktop text ad activity on the top 150,000 retail keywords by paid search spend, AdGooroo found that retailers boosted their year-over-year spend by 24% last holiday season, spending $1.44 billion in Q4 2015 compared to $1.16 billion in Q4 2014.
“Millions of phones with Foursquare and Swarm were celebrating Black Friday by hitting the shops, giving a clear model of how the overall U.S. population tackled their gift lists. Here’s what Foursquare found,” Foursquare’s own Jeff Glueck reveals.
With more and more retailers offering holiday deals earlier in the season, the excitement about Black Friday is no longer confined to a single day. Now it’s more like a month-long event.
